WinXP has a feature called "Compressed Folders" which treats Zip files as folders, allowing users to navigate within zip files in Windows Explorer itself. "Compressed Folders" is a system-wide setting.

FolderView and FileView v7.0 have a new property AllowZipFolders which allows a developer to specify whether to treat zip files as folders or files irrespective of whether "Compressed Folders" is enabled. If "Compressed Folders" is disabled, then zip files are always treated as files. However, if "Compressed Folders" is enabled, then if AllowZipFolders is True, zip files are treated is folders similar to WinXP, But if AllowZipFolders is False, zip files are treated as files even though XP treats them as folders.

With "Compressed Folders" is enabled and AllowZipFolders set to True, setting ShowFolders of FileView to False will hide the zip files. In FolderView, zip files will show up as folders with (+) or (-) signs.

With "Compressed Folders" is enabled and AllowZipFolders set to False, zip files will be displayed in FolderView only if ShowFiles is set to True.
