|
|
To use activated licenses, you need to host a license service which will perform the activation of licenses.
- Create license service files using CryptoLicensing Generator via the 'Create License Service' dialog (press Ctrl+L).
- Upload the created files to a web sever (if testing on local host, this step is not needed).
- Perform a 2-minute configuration by going to "<<URL where license service hosted>>/install/install.aspx" (example: http://www.mywebsite.com/LicenseService/install/install.aspx )
Next, in CryptoLicensing Generator, generate licenses requiring activation by checking the 'Activation: Limit Machines To' checkbox and specifying the maximum number of machines from which the license can be activated. Click 'Generate' to generate the license and sent it to your customer.
When your software validates this license on a customer's machine, it will connect with the license service and present the license for activation. The license service will generate a machine-locked license from the presented license and returns it to your software. Since the returned license is machine-locked, it can only be used on the machine from which the activation took place. The license service also records the activation (license-machinecode pair) in its database, so activation of machines greater than that specified in the license does not succeed.
Notes
Make sure that your software sets the CCryptoLicense.SetLicenseServiceURL property to the correct URL.
See the 'Configuring the license service' topic in the help file for more information on this. |
