In Windows, there is a limit of 16 overlay icons which includes the system defined ones (shortcut, share, etc), those added by shell extensions (such as TortoiseSVN, your own overlay icon extension developed using EZShellExtensions) and those added by namespace extensions (such as those developed with EZNamespaceExtensions).
This means that if the 16 icon limit has been exhausted, Windows won't show the overlay icon that you specify via an overlay icon extension or for items in your namespace extension. Windows guidelines state that overlay icons must be used as a visual guide only and not as an absolute source of information about item state. |
